a sense of belonging.

Why do we have a constant strive or need to join something bigger than us? Or an institution or firm that has massive market power and influence? -I do not speak for everyone, but being surrounded by hundreds of fellow students that wish to join a company after they graduate, it is hard to ignore the constant chatter about graduate placements and job seeking stress. We all know that universities are producing more students than there are jobs! But perhaps there is an underlying innate sense of belonging that people want to be a part of.

Whilst researching on for my dissertation, I stumbled across an economic paper that presents findings about low-trust and economic development in Latin America. Here is what it says;

chose the path chosen for us.

The path of which we walk will never fade… Follow it we must, direction it gives. Walk between the dotted lines. Adhere to the traffic signs. We must grow as individuals and strive to construct our path.

Build the path of which we continue to walk on and follow our own path that we create. Let not others wither your path and find fault with that you have chosen. Greener pastures awaits you, upon your inception of your passion.

As we continue down our path we realise that nothing more is required of us. Nothing less needs to be done. Creative destruction is a path that we all go through; to learn; to discover; and become wiser about the ourselves relevant to the world that we see before our deceiving eyes.

Perceive that the path we will walk will be a difficult and troubled one.  Continue reading

fly landing.

20120429-133848.jpg

…so often we see a bird take off and land all around us… this is because we also see the relative surrondings that surrounds the creature… howevever, what if we take away the surroundings and the capture the creature itself at the very moment? can one tell whether it is taking off or landing?…

Now consider your position in your life. Your ‘taking off’ or ‘landing’ in your career, relationship or any respect of your life would be dictated by the relative surrondings. Remove the surrondings, take time as given and ‘sieze the day’…

bridging a connection.

the embodied connection between two entities can neither be expressed or seen. Instead it is express to one another through a channel that only each other can understand…just as the bridge they look upon, the connection between the bridge can only be sustained when the elements are in sync and balanced…no other large structure can attach a connection without creating disorient……and just as the bridge allows for traffic, so does the connection between the two entities…a traffic flow that is inline, that is heavy at times but peaceful when the sun sets…
what they have is a bridge. a connection…

cycle by the window.

look beyond the window, take a ride on your bike, beyond and a far from reality…
embrace the windy green pastures as you pedal along your way..

trust – nurture or nature?

We always ask ourselves if we can trust those of whom that we trade with. How often do we consider the essence of the level of trust that we have with others? Are we to consider that it is hereditary or are we nurtured in such a way. Continue reading

social capital: at what point does it hurt.

….Continued referencing from the Manpower research; social capital has always existed and been the driver of economic prosperity. Some argue that it can not exist without the provision of certain rights that institutions provide. But was there not a period where there was no such institutions in place and we were forced to trade based on ‘trust’ or ‘social capital’?

“…In the Human Age, we have become all-day networks, able to act or respond immediately to many different situations. A business deal that begins in Tokyo on a Monday for a global corporation may continue uninterruptedly for days and involve employees and consultants from multiple time zones. Ideas may come from one-time economic outposts or collaborations between people who never meet but know each other virtually…” Continue reading

leaves of the moonlight.

…in darkness we fear fear itself, disregarding any form of light that may shine a path in out time of need… through the lens we call eyes, we see dark green leaves hovering above our temples as we walk paths of darkness… beyond the photosynthesis that occurs above us, there is the moonlight that allows such an event to occur… little do we realise the science of interactions that continues to surround us…

…after all, we only see the moonlight through the leaves…
