perspective is everything.

Economics was the study of ‘the household’ and thus making it a social science in nature.
It ultimately boils down to relative perspective. Rory Sutherland spoke on TED that perspective is everything:

His arguments are very compelling and I agree that perspective is everything!
How we each view and perceive every given time and moment is crucial to our development. There is a lot of talk about positive thinking, but positive thinking is actually the second step. The first is awareness.

Being aware of an issue or an obstacle is essential to taking the next step. So how does being aware relate to perspective? -Well everything thing that we see, touch, feel, smell and relate to is constantly being judged by us and is a perspective, to which each and every one of us has a varying perspective. It is like the value of $1 is different relative to the wealth of that person holding that $1.

Step 1: Be aware of a situation and understand that your current perspective and it is your perspective (even though others may share the same perspective,) you must understand and be aware that you  own that particular perspective regarding the subject matter at hand.

Step 2: Now that you are aware of the situation and/or circumstance, take a deep breath and decide on how you wish to decide on your perspective of the subject matter at hand. Take a simple computer keyboard (for instance), it complements the usage of your computer, but to another is a tool to hack into a mainframe and to a gamer its the differential of speed and sensitivity to winning a global gaming competition. Thus, now that you are aware that your perspective is yours only, how will go about deciding the perspective of the subject matter.

Step 3: +ve, or positive thoughts. Look at the glass half full and realise the opportunity of the subject matter. Realise that the computer keyboard is an opportunity to do wondrous things on your computer, from programming to surfing the internet and expanding your knowledge.

Step 4: Right click, save file, copy and apply the systematic process to every possible step in your life.

You will soon realise that your perspective is easier to control than you think and it would ultimately give you more control over your life; especially when accomplishing what you want to!

a beautiful night.

we never really realise how beautiful the world is until we realise how beautiful the world is…

a sense of belonging.

Why do we have a constant strive or need to join something bigger than us? Or an institution or firm that has massive market power and influence? -I do not speak for everyone, but being surrounded by hundreds of fellow students that wish to join a company after they graduate, it is hard to ignore the constant chatter about graduate placements and job seeking stress. We all know that universities are producing more students than there are jobs! But perhaps there is an underlying innate sense of belonging that people want to be a part of.

Whilst researching on for my dissertation, I stumbled across an economic paper that presents findings about low-trust and economic development in Latin America. Here is what it says;

chose the path chosen for us.

The path of which we walk will never fade… Follow it we must, direction it gives. Walk between the dotted lines. Adhere to the traffic signs. We must grow as individuals and strive to construct our path.

Build the path of which we continue to walk on and follow our own path that we create. Let not others wither your path and find fault with that you have chosen. Greener pastures awaits you, upon your inception of your passion.

As we continue down our path we realise that nothing more is required of us. Nothing less needs to be done. Creative destruction is a path that we all go through; to learn; to discover; and become wiser about the ourselves relevant to the world that we see before our deceiving eyes.

Perceive that the path we will walk will be a difficult and troubled one.  Continue reading

building social capital.

A great post by Tina on her Blog about The Power of Networking. She has a simple illustration to networking in 5 simple and easy steps!

1. Strike a conversation with your eyes.
A very well put description about using the channel of which we see the world. We should appreciate the gift of sight because it channels body language and reflects how another entity is being viewed. The combination of ones glare, posture and facial expressions can start or end a conversation even before you know it! Continue reading

fly landing.

20120429-133848.jpg

…so often we see a bird take off and land all around us… this is because we also see the relative surrondings that surrounds the creature… howevever, what if we take away the surroundings and the capture the creature itself at the very moment? can one tell whether it is taking off or landing?…

Now consider your position in your life. Your ‘taking off’ or ‘landing’ in your career, relationship or any respect of your life would be dictated by the relative surrondings. Remove the surrondings, take time as given and ‘sieze the day’…

using technology to solve problems in developing nations.

This multipronged framework will use information technology as its core driver to enhance lives of those in developing nations. It provides a framework so that those living below the poverty line are able to get access to basic needs, health care and create awareness to the international community. This model is not new but it does have some personal input to its viability and sustainability. This will create avenues for crowdsourcing and crowdfunding. Before we continue, we must first define the three triangles. Working in the ‘rule of three’ keeps a systematic process simple and its simplicity to handover.
